Alzheimer’s Society – Bristol

Alzheimer’s Society is a charity that campaigns for change in dementia care, funds research towards a cure, and provides support to people currently living with dementia. They offer a Dementia Support Line to put people in touch with local dementia services and offer advice. They also provide the Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service.

Bristol City Council provide care and support in the community to adults who live in Bristol and have a disability, long term illness, mental health needs, learning difficulties, age-related health issues, or any other social care needs impacting independence.

The Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service delivers a personalised package of dementia support to patients across Bristol. This includes healthcare, social and activity groups, practical support, and services for carers.

Filwood Hope

Filwood Hope provides the local community of Knowle West with advice and support on benefit, debt, emplyoment concerns, and housing. Listening services and advice for those over 55 are also available.

Marmalade Trust

Marmalade Trust work to raise awareness of loneliness and social isolation nationally, and provide opportunities for social connection to people experiencing loneliness in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.

North Bristol Advice Centre

North Bristol Advice centre offer free and independent advice and support for people dealing with issues around welfare benefit and debt in North Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Home visits are available for those over 50, and the centre can offer support to get online.

Reengage (Bristol groups)

Reengage provide social opportunities for older adults (75+) who live alone anywhere in the UK, including telephone befriending and monthly tea parties.

The Silver Line

The Silver Line operate a free, confidential, 24-hour telephone helpline for people aged 55+ in the UK, and offer a telephone friendship service connecting people aged 60+ with volunteers to reduce social isolation.
